Why Dicey Bizniz is shaping up to be my most ambitious game yet
Development on Dicey Bizniz has been an absolute whirlwind, and I'm excited to pull back the curtain and share some numbers that showcase just how deep this dice-based roguelike has become.
When I started this project I knew I wanted to go bigger. But even I'm surprised by the scope of what's taking shape. Let me break down the content explosion:
38 Unique Dice Types across six different die shapes (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20). Each die has its own personality, mechanics, and story.
20 Tactical Spells ranging from common utility magic to epic game-changers.
23 Powerful Relics that fundamentally alter how you play. These aren't just stat boosts: they're build-defining artifacts.
32 Combo Types that reward strategic thinking and dice arrangement. The combo system recognizes everything from simple pairs and straights to exotic combinations I've never seen in other games. Each combo has its own scoring rules and can be the foundation of entirely different strategies.
16 Dragon Sanctum Upgrades spread across four “prestige” tiers. This is the meta-progression system that keeps you coming back.
11 Random Events that can completely change the trajectory of a run.
50 Achievements across eight distinct categories. From progression milestones to collection challenges. The achievement system tracks everything from your luckiest moments to your most strategic decisions.
That's 190 unique pieces of content, each with its own mechanics, lore, and strategic implications. But here's what excites me most: the combinations. With 38 dice types, 20 spells, and 23 relics all interacting with each other, the number of possible build combinations is astronomical. Every run feels like discovering a new game.
Development continues at full speed, with art direction and final polish being my current focus areas. But the mechanical foundation is solid, the content is vast, and the strategies are endlessly deep.
Numbers don't lie: Dicey Bizniz is shaping up to be everything I learned from Zirquitz, amplified by an order of magnitude.
