I’m thrilled to share that Boss Battles - the last major feature before release - are now under active development! This screenshot gives you a behind-the-scenes look at my work-in-progress battle interface.
What Are Boss Battles?
Forget everything you know about regular ante gameplay. Ante 4, 8, and 11 will become Boss Battles, transforming Dicey Bizniz into a strategic, turn-based showdown that will test your tactical mastery like never before.
How Boss Battles Work
Shared Dice Pool: You and the boss start each battle with a combined pool of 10 dice (5 yours, 5 theirs) but here’s the twist: you can see all the values before anyone picks!
Turn-Based Strategy: Each turn has two phases: first, select a die from the shared pool and place it in your battle tray. Then, optionally, cast spells on dice already in play to boost your position or disrupt your opponent’s strategy.
Unique Boss Auras: Each boss has a signature passive ability that changes the rules. The Chaos Weaver might shift dice values mid-battle, while the Iron Calculator gains power from mathematical precision. Six unique bosses await, each requiring different strategies to defeat.
Winner Takes All: After 5 turns, scores are calculated, and whoever has the highest total wins. But with boss auras manipulating the battlefield, victory demands more than luck.
The Stakes: Boss battles occur at antes 4, 8, and 11 - the moments when your run hangs in the balance. Defeat means game over. Victory means amazing rewards and the satisfaction of tactical supremacy.
